clarkwgriswold
First off thanks to member #072 for the how to on cutting the circuit board and relocating. It was a big help. I know I'm not the first one to do this but I'm so happy to get my radio out of the cubby area. Now I'm 90% done and wanted to share with you guys. PeterJMC
Looking awesome! Link to the thread for the How-To? How long did it take you to hack the radio?
clarkwgriswold
Here's the link...http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/dual-hvac-double-din-xm-back-up-camera-finally-finished-48531.html?t=48531 The circuit board hack took about 26 of the 32 hours. The rest was wiring the car and bondoing the radio. A lot of tracing out and soldering onto tracers the size of a pin head. Lost my mind a few times and had to walk away. Thanks for the positive feedback!
dv8ingvector
I have had one half modified for 2 years now. I really need to buy a real soldering station before I go any further.
spartan
I am always envious of the people with enough patience and skill to complete this project, unfortunately I have neither.
zmarko
I am always envious of the people with enough patience and skill to complete this project, unfortunately I have neither. Same for me. And while I can respect people doing it in their spare time, to me it's totally worth the ~$300 for the JDM dual din kit (especially at 32 hrs+ worth of work). carguyco
As usual I'm confused... Even w/ the $300 JDM kit don't you still have to hack the circuit board?
clarkwgriswold
You don't have to hack the circuit board with the jdm kit but the fitment is a little off. The kit is almost $400. Total price was about $50 because I got a radio with a broken cd changer. The wife, mortgage, and car payments said no to the $400. I tried!
