burnout8488
Sorry sorry! I meant to reply but I was distracted by some database labs and was tired I want the leptronix but I don't think its worth the extra ~$50 over the jazzy just for the functionality of not having to insert a silent cd. I don't want to buy the jazzy aux and have to use a silent CD either, so I'm kind of stuck with my own frugalness. If the leptronix was 65 or 75 I'd probably pull the trigger on it. But, it'd add a lot of functionality in the future, so I might consider buying one of the last ones...and just not look at the price. EDIT: Ugh, I hate you. I just bought it. He said there was one left and I couldn't refuse. Once I get the tunes flowin through it I'm sure I'll feel nothing but love for you though. Drew888
Ok, so I got my ProClip mount in the mail and connected everything (pics to come later tonight). It's freekin huge on the dashboard and I feel like a taxi. Not for me... I will say that having all the iPad has to offer at your fingertips and at a good angle to the driver is very nice. Movies looke great, kids can easily see it from the back set, the wife can also. Audio is not bad through speakers. It's just a bit much and what really makes it worth messing with is the PLX Kiwi wi-fi (+iMFD for additional guages) to read multiple custom gauges. But support for it is still too early. So it's a novelty used mainly for road trips and track days only once DevToaster and others upgrade their software to include the iPad. For the rest of the time this kit will reside in a drawer until then. Zephrant
I'm pretty excited about the rumor of a 7" ipad that may be coming this winter. Seams like that would be the perfect size.

Drew888
Crap, forgot about the pics. I'll get them up this weekend. 7" will be better but I'm not a fan of anything hanging off of or near the dash. Just not a clean look. It will be very functional for a track day or when tuning. Zephrant
True, but a 7" pad might fit in a double DIN, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I agree- I want an OEM look (but far better apps.), or nothing.

burnout8488
I took my first trip with the pad mounted last week. Although its huge, the gps worked wonderful. It was also very convenient in that I was able to do some "business" over email and the web while driving. (albeit very slowly, i WAS driving after all) Pandora is nice too. Tethered to my sprint phone using wmwifirouter I managed to use 250mb of data! Good thing I don't use the built in 3G or I'd be paying at&t out the ass. Zephrant
Biz- Sent you a PM. I work at a smallish office (70 people), and have 1 SpecB, one Legacy, Three WRXs (all blue), and misc. Outbacks/Foresters... I'm really waffling on the iPad idea (far less work) or a full Linux car PC. There is a lot of neat things I can do with a PC, but each of them will most likely be a lot of time invested. A new version of DashCommand was released for the iPad last week, so that excuse is now gone.
Drew888
Holy Crap! I leave here for a week and now Dash Command has support for the iPad? Very Cool! Ok, now I have to go through with my PLX kiwi wifi purchase [URL="http://legacygt.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=1586"VbGallery/URL]
Drew888
burnout, did you notice your iPad droop because of vibration? Mine does and I'm thinking of adding a small piece of 3m tape in the mount to add resistance. That and tightening it up a bit more. burnout8488
Yep, I had to put a piece of electrical tape in the ball+socket mount for it to stay up. Then when I tightened down the screw, I heard a loud crack. Then, the top part of the clip that goes between the dash snapped because of poor design. it's very fragile, and I had to epoxy it. So far so good, but I have a feeling its going to break in the future. About to leave for NYC in an hour, I'll post back if it holds up.

Drew888
I'm late w/ the pics ... Just an experiment so far. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/Drew_Jones/08%20LGT%20Spec-B/IMGP2173.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/Drew_Jones/08%20LGT%20Spec-B/IMGP2177.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c132/Drew_Jones/08%20LGT%20Spec-B/IMGP2176.jpg [URL="http://legacygt.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=1586"VbGallery/URL]
burnout8488
Oh, I really like the side mounting idea! I'm gonna try it, that way I can still see the temperature. Sucks about the abundance of wires though :/
Drew888
Side mounting worked for me as you can still see the screen completely and I get the vent. Passenger sort of gets air from his vent as it hits the iPad and still deflects that direction (and keeps the iPad cooler). If you find a right angle audio cable and run it behind through the bracket and velcro to the other on the right side it's not to bad. I'd rather no cables though and as long as your battery it full and no audio needed then no cables. I'm still keeping it for trackdays and when I really have a need to know what's going on. Still not liking the TAXI look but it's just so hard not to enjoy the features. burnout8488
My iPad actually overheated once sitting in a parking lot. It displayed "TEMPERATURE" and wouldn't boot. I had to blast A/C on it for 5 minutes to get functionality back. On another note, I'm selling my iPad holder on eBay most likely. ProClip is replacing the broken mount for free, and I'm going to get a blackberry holder instead and use that for my navigation and music. (Just bought a new Bold on eBay this morning, can't wait) The size of the iPad up there really did get ridiculous after awhile. :/
burnout8488
iPad mount is up on ebay for anyone that wants it! Brand new tilt/swivel piece straight from ProClip, just don't overtorque it like I did and you'll be fine http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110601100273&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Anyway.. Going for the stock look...using tje exter mount style for now. It spins 360° and is a galaxy tab 3 with data plan.
