executor485
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/11/suzuki-releases-official-details-on-200-mph-bonneville-bound-kiz/#continued Alright... I cant find any info on this except what they provided. Step 1) Get the suzuki to break the land speed record at Bonneville salt flats for its class (103mph) is apparently the record. Step 2) Put on a turbo and make over 900hp, and break the record at over 200mph. So... What class is that? How is the record ONLY 103mph or whatever for a N/A? Etc... The N/A legacy/wrx/etc can all break 100mph easy. Discuss! If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off.
mustangendsley
IT IS NOT ONLY 1 RUN.it is a average of 2 runs, you go down, turn around and come back. Bonneville speed records don't get beat very much and if they do they don't get shaterd. It is much harder than you think.
executor485
average of top speed? or the average speed there and back (starting from 0 going to 1xx) And the records are here: http://www.scta-bni.org/Bonneville/BNIrecs_cat_e.htm I dont doubt that the records arent broken all the time. But I guess I just dont understand the class the suzuki is in that makes it such a strong contender. If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off. Bolksey85
Plus, IIRC, Bonneville only records speed over the 3-4 mile marker, not highest sustained. Plus don't they have 2 courses, a low(er) speed and a high speed course? One is like 3 miles and the other is 5 with miles 1-3 used to accel, 3-4 used to record the speed and 4-5 to begin decel? executor485
Still, I guess I'm just confused as to how the record isnt higher. Seems like its in the same category as a lot of cars with "better" chances. But oh well More power to em... If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off. Impulse
Keep also in mind the coeffecient of friction difference between packed salt and hot sticky asphalt.
