doccrowley
Gimmick turbo inlet tube install to replace the leaking stock inlet tube on my 06 legacygt. Help please. Trying to do this without removal of the intake manifold, but now notice the electrical connection into the 5th connection. don't see room to unclip the connetion without removal of manifold. Then, where do I T this thing back in for the new inlet tube? Help please. Much appreciated.
doccrowley
downloaded the Gimmick instructions and there's a clear explanation of what to do with the electrical connection. Now if I can just get the manifold out of the way so I have a clear shot of reconnecting the BOV recirc hose and then I'll be well on my way. Wish I had paid for this one to be done! What a pain! Sebaru
Hopefully you have a harbor freight tool store nearby. Go buy their 11" long needle nose plier set. They sell straight, 45 degree, and a 90 degree bends. Buy all three they are worth there weight in gold when working on subaru intake manifolds. We (Shop7) install aftermarket intake tubes on subes(didn't mean to rhyme, wiki wiki) all the time and these pliers are an absolute must have when doing so. TRSCobra
That "sensor" is completely useless; it contains a removable metal jumper for the connector, that's it. IDK why Subaru even wasted their time/money running a wire to a fake PCV sensor. I was worried about the same 5 vs 4 port dilemma, but I also installed the Grimmspeed AOS at the same time, which reroutes that PCV hose.
doccrowley
Done! Many hours later and help from the subie specialist in town. Eliminated the BOV recir hose with an expandable plug placed in the inlet tube. Capped the factory useless PCV recirc hose. I don't like the fit between the Gimmick inlet tube and the power steering pump, I'll have to watch it for rub through wear. Now, off to re-tune this thing after the install in combo with full exhaust. It backfires off of light throttle
