Help!!! Lights won't go off.

My parking lights (bottom half of tail lamp + front amber lights) are on and I can't seem to my them go off. Anybody ever seen this before? Any recommendations? I tried the seat belt chime thing earlier, gave up after not being able to make it work, but could I have triggered something else? Help.

On the top of your steering column, you'll see a switch, marked with a "P." This is for your parking lights. You must have accidentally tripped it. Flip it to the off position, and voila.

For when you want to meet your friendly AAA jump man after you accidentally trip it, and the car won't start the next morning. Ditto for the map lights, which you should also be careful of. Those don't turn off with the car, either.

let me guess, you cleaned the car.

 

Drive magazine makes note of this every spring. Also, there are countries where if you are parked on the street, you need to have parking lights on at times. There are other times it's not a bad idea, as when you turn off a subaru, you can't leave the lights on otherwise.
