brighton_4wd
Do the floats on these 1st gens go wrong after a while or are they fairly reliable? My brothers car will show fuel when filled up but then the needle does not go down again. We pulled the float out of the tank and had a look at it, whilst it was connected to the car; we turned the ignition over and then moved the float around but the needle in the cluster did not move. If I do need to replace the float, is there other Subaru parts I can use i.e out of an impreza etc. The reason being the 1st gen Legacy is very rare over here and theres none around not even in the scrap yards! So I hope the floats are fairly compitable. Any advice would be great!
fkyx
First generation Legacys are probably the most reliable of all of the generations, and that is even more true if they're maintained properly. Can't shed any light on your issue, though. I could be as simple as a bum gauge.
