Subie018
Hey, A friend of mine is about to pull the trigger on a '05 LGT (non-limited) 5MT with around 24k miles. On the test drive, it seemed like the car lugged for a bit while accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gears at around 2-3k rpm. By lugging I mean that it has a bit of a jolt, like it doesn't want to accelerate, but then gets over it and freely revs. Is this normal? It was not lugging anywhere else and if pushed hard it won't lug. Car might be purchased today, so quick help would be nice. (By a chance the original owner is on this forum? Your name is Ian and you are from Washington state but moved to Naperville, IL? And didn't drive this car much?) Thanks!
Chameleon
Does the lugging you are referring to just feel like a lack of torque??
Subie018
Sort of, like the car is hesitant to rev or there is some turbo lag. Anyways, the exciting news, the car is bought! And, he got a SMOKING deal on it! I'm sure he'll be here on the forums soon and share some pics. Here are pics from the dealer: http://assets.clickmotive.com/inventory/inventory/dealers/381/14623/A405A.jpg? http://assets.clickmotive.com/inventory/inventory/dealers/381/14623/A405A(13).jpg? http://assets.clickmotive.com/inventory/inventory/dealers/381/14623/A405A(6).jpg? scoobydoobie
search for "stutter". Sounds like the problem and it is normal. Can be taken care of with a better tune.
slimjoe
It's probably just turbo lag. The turbo doesn't really start to spool up until the top of 2k.
DansSpace
I'll second the stutter. My car does it pretty hard in second gear if I roll onto the throttle. I'm 100% stock.
peteyjr
Turbo Subies are famous for the stutter. Get infamous to do your tune and it will be gone (well at least 95% of the time)
