joedirtae09
Ive been looking over alot of threads about custom painting girlles, spoilers, lips, etc... Most people sand, primer, and then spray several coats of paint. I was wonderinng if anyone has or if its even worth spaying on clear coat to seal everything in. I guess Im just worried about the paint chipping later on down the road.
05_Silver_GT
I used a clear coat on my frill and fog shrouds. It worked pretty well and i recommend it. I do have two small chips on the grill, but thats after 5 months of being on the car.
joedirtae09
does it make the paint look more glossy? cuz im trying to stay away from it being so shiny...
05_Silver_GT
Well you just need to make sure you use a non gloss clear coat. I used a semi gloss on mine. Gave it a slight shine but still looks matte finish. They make all sorts of clear coat to be what you want. If you want a flat black paint, then they make a flat clear coat to go with it. Meshanks07
^ I agree. Use the clear coat for whatever kind of spray you are using. I used flat clear coat on my fog surrounds with flat black and it protects great.
