ssbtech
I have read all the comments and it appears they will fit HOWEVER will my stock outback tyres 215/55/17 still fit with the new shocks? Based on successful conversions in North America, I'd say they'll fit. It's close, but they'll fit. I have Legacy Bilstein HD struts on my car with 225/55/17 tires. lowndes8
Great new tyre's still have tread left on them so maybe when my next set is due i will go down slightly in size
lowndes8
Ok heres mine Some advice. I found the legacy GT springs in the rear too soft the car would bounce over every single bump so im going to replace them with the stock outback springs and they have a extra coil compared to the legacy springs. Should raise the rear 10-15mm. Will post pics when done http://i60.tinypic.com/6roeg1.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/2ngzm9j.jpg

N.Y.X.
Got the alignment after the suspension swap and couldn't quite get the rear in spec. Is there any other rear camber adjustment parts that I am leaving out that could improve my alignment? Currently she is sitting at 25-3/4" F Fender height and 26-1/4" in the rear, if I go up more in the rear I know it will correct it but would be a bit too high for my liking. Opinions? whitetiger
that alignment is crap. you left with a thrust angle that is not absolute 0. BTW just cause its red, does not met its not in "spec". these cars need more negative camber, around -1.5 each side for daily driving. So at around -1.2 for you is fine. they just should have tried harder to get the sides equal. Id be more concerned with rear toe not being equal. Id go back and demand they get front and rear toe equal on both sides to the .0001. If you get the whiteline KTA124, it will make achieving a good alignment much easier. lim jahey
Looks great man ! I'm doing mine this weekend all I need is the lgt bumpstops?, Sent from my Z936L using Tapatalk
gto7419
Are the lgt bumps smaller? Previous owner lowered my obxt and the rear upper control arms were not changed. I have about 1-2" of travel between the arm and the bumps. Im buying LGT arms as I type this. Will also buy the whiteline kit

lowndes8
Just any update on my outback. So i had the Spec B Bilstein's in there and personally found them too hard. I have since sourced a stock set of legacy wagon shocks/springs and its much nicer.
TiagoSantos
Just did the swap last weekend. Legacy GT struts and springs, rear upper control arms and bump stops onto the OBXT. Had it aligned today and everything checked out except the rear toe - they could only get it to 0.35deg per side! I believe the spec is -0.1 to 0 per side. A positive angle on rear toe means toe out, correct? Is there an easier fix for getting toe back in spec than spending +$400 on the KTA124 kit? Rear camber is perfect, just toe that needs some help. N.Y.X.
Do you have the rear whiteline control arm bushings?
TiagoSantos
You mean the outer bushing on the upper control arm - KCA399 - right? On their way, but not on the car yet. From the posts I've seen in this thread, I expected rear camber to be problematic, but not toe. Hence ordering the control arm bushings.. Then decided to just give it a try only to find out it's toe that I can't adjust to spec. Looking at the suspension geometry, it doesn't look like the whiteline bushings will affect toe that much, though..
eurokid
ive just joined this forum specifically to post in this thread in hopes to find a better solution for the suspension for my outback. 06 outback 2.5i ive previously had the stock 185k mile suspension replaced with a good used set of tein coilovers off a legacy sedan. although fun for me for a while, it wasnt very smooth needless to say. too harsh of a ride, especially since my wife does drive this car more than i do. then i found some jdm bilsteins, they fit but i have this sag in the rear like the suspension is lower in the back than the front. i assume this set also came from a sedan. i see you all have found that legacy gt suspension fits the outbacks quite well, and im pleased to see that and it seems this is the desired setup i have been looking for. but for the life of me i cannot find the specific year and model subaru legacy that you all have sourced your parts from... can someone please shed some light on this for me? the search is exasperating:spin:
whitetiger
any 05-09 legacy takeoffs will work for you. I find it hard to believe that you could not find this easily in a search.

They just sandwich between the top of the rear shock and the body. Otherwise, you want 2005-2009 LGT wagon springs and struts/shocks. eurokid
any 05-09 legacy takeoffs will work for you. I find it hard to believe that you could not find this easily in a search. i wasnt aware that subaru had different variations of this platform (legacy gt vs outback between 05-09) and neither was my local salvage yard when i mentioned there were differences in the suspension between the two models. i assumed so after reading the thread but just wanted to be extra sure:rolleyes: If everything about the Bilsteins is good except the rear sag, "saggy butt" spacers are the way to go. HTH, Doug i was thinking about spacers but wasnt sure where to find a set, i love the suspension otherwise. was also considering lowering the front a bit to compensate for the rake its really god awful. Geckoboy86
Just lowered my Outback Sedan 3.0R on a set of LGT suspension. All that was swapped was the complete struts. Looks amazing but my front right is rubbing under load.
WellsMcKenzie
Just bit the bullet and I have KYB front and rear struts, new bumpstops and mounts, some new tools, springs, control arms, bumpstops, whiteline camber kit, and 1/2" spacers + longer bolts on the way. All the parts are brand new, either from amazon (KYB) or Subaru directly. I don't think I've really seen anyone say they have gone with all new parts yet. So excited to get off this near 100,000 mile stock outback suspension.http://i.imgur.com/7zrrH3g.jpg
WellsMcKenzie
So I was able to swap all the new parts in, except for the rear LGT control arms. The bolt and nut are so stuck that I broke my breaker bar on it. Also there is no leverage to get that thing out. I guess I need to rear sway bar off or something. Anywho, the car is lowered, all the parts were brand new, and I couldn't be happier with the ride. Here is the final ride http://i.imgur.com/3RkDKjQ.jpg And all the before and after pics. WellsMcKenzie
very cool, I just got an 06 XT and I am thinking about doing this mod pretty soon. How much did this set you back if you don't mind me asking. With all new parts, half sourced from Amazon, half sourced from subaruparts.com, I spent about $1200. Parts list includes, springs, struts, control arms, bumpstops, strut boots, control arm bushings, strut mounts, rear spacers, and some new tools. I haven't replaced the control arms yet because I can't get them off. So that price doesn't include my alignment because I can't get one yet. Total I will probably have spent a little over 1300. But man, after driving it to work, and a little spirited driving after work, it was worth every dime. It looks perfect to me and it handles 20 times better than my blown outback struts.
