Weird Question About Lug Nut Seating Surface

Just received my new set of OZ Ultraleggeras from the TireRack. They wanted $150 for black locking lugs (Rays) so I decided to go a little cheaper and bought a set of McGard (65554BK) black spline drives with locks which were $110.

In looking at the seating surface between the McGard and the chrome lugs that the TireRack sent, the chrome lugs that came with my wheels and tires have a bigger seating surface as compared to the Mcgard.

The chrome lugs have about 1/4" of seating surface, where the Mcgard lugs have about 1/8" of seating surface. And the chrome lugs sit flush in the cone (seating surface) of the wheel, where the Mcgards are sitting inside the cone of the wheel.

The seating surfaces look the same between the two lugs, they are both cone shaped, and the angles appear identical, but there is 1/2 the seating surface on the McGard lugs. Just seems weird to me, I would assume that the size of the seating surface would be the same size across all 60 degree cone lugs?

My concern is that the smaller seating surface of the Mcgard may dig into the wheel. I am also concerned that with the smaller seating surface the lugs may loosen easier. These are only assumptions. The Mcgard set I purchase is 65554BK which has a 60 degree cone seating surface.

I have not put the Mcgards on the car yet, and want to verify fitment before doing so. I'd hate to screw up a brand new set of wheels. Any insight would be greatly appreciated - Thank you much!
