Crawford Performance Wins at 2010 Debut

 

Unlimited and Street AWD Dominate Classes, Sponsored Driver Conor Daly wins at Laguna Seca

 

Monday, May 24, 2010 (Oceanside, Calif.) – In windy (20-45 mph gusts of wind) and sunny, 80-degree weather at Las Vegas International Raceway, The Super Lap Battle Qualifier weekend completed with a crowd of people standing on the walls watching as the cars battled it out. Crawford Performance performed far better than expected for their first debut of the year with new driver, Thomas Smith at the helm. “We were expecting to be chasing small problems all weekend, but instead the parts supplied by our sponsors performed flawlessly right out of the bag, only a few tweaks were needed on the suspension to improve the overall time on the track.” says Quirt Crawford, President – Crawford Performance

 

Highlights from the weekend included a first place finish by “Tony”, the Crawford Performance Time Attack Car, in the AWD Unlimited class, which also set a new track record for new driver Thomas Smith. Thomas Smith stated “the car was amazing, even though it has 630whp, it was the smoothest acceleration I have ever felt from this much power before. The car was completely tame and easy to drive at these power levels and made my job a whole lot easier.”

 

Driver, Thomas Smith’s background comes from a vast background in go-karting, auto-cross and recently driving his own personal daily driver too many podium finishes at local Street Class Time Attack and Super Lap Battle Events. Thomas is also the current driver for the debuted Crawford Performance sponsored team Subaru of Las Vegas / Zenkai Motorsports race car. Not only did this car debut this past weekend, it also took home a first place trophy and a new track record for its first outing of the year, after only 3 weeks build time on the vehicle. ‘We are extremely excited to see what the true potential of this vehicle. With only one track event under its belt, there is a lot of time left in the vehicle and with some fine tuning in the setup we hope to see a lot more podium finishes and track records this year by Zenkai and driver Thomas Smith.” says William Knose.

 

Crawford Performance sponsored open wheel cart racing driver, Conor Daly, racing in the Star Mazda Championship (www.starmazda.com) and proud owner of a Subaru STI, takes home his second win of the year, second Pole Position and also set fastest lap time of the weekend. Congratulations to the young 18 year old in his pursuit for becoming the next great American Formula 1 driver.
