QGM 08 Spec.B, help me choose a color for my BBS wheels

Recommended Posts

I took these pics with my blackberry and I would like to get them powder coated but I am undecided on a color. I dont want to go too wild but I want something no one else has. I like grey colors with a metallic that pops and I have to choose colors from www.columbiacoatings.com or www.powderbythepound.com I have also listed a few colors below. What do you guys suggest?

I went thru this and stayed away from the gray and silver because my car, like yours is silver. I went flat black and love it. If you are set on silver, I think the first link would look the best.

I need to have them powder coated because two of them have caked on brake dust that wont come off. I dont want to go black but I do want a color that stands out. The Acura TL wheel looks to me like a little darker version of a black chrome color. I am having a few sample panels sent to my place to see the diff.

I don't think you'll go this route, but I honestly like them as they are with the color of you car. Your car looks very nice and clean. Powdercoating your rims would cheapen the look of your car imo and just attract attention, for better of worse.

have you tried a clay bar on the wheels? i've also read of this other product called sonax that is awesome on removing the caked on brake dust.

heres a link to a local thread discussing removing caked on brake dust

i have tried meguire's wheel bright, simple green, bar keepers friend, grease lightning and soap and water. nothing is gonna take this crap off besides a harsh chemical IMO.

I will check out the link you sent but it doesnt work since i am not a member

ill pull some shit out of it and post up for you but it sounds like you've tried just about everything lol

edit: heres a link to NASIOC for a product called Sonax

Thank you for the post but I already saw that thread. I didnt try that stuff but I honest dont think its as strong as Simple green. I was going to try this stuff called Prosoco 600 detergent which is used by masonry guys to clean off brick and tile but it was too harsh. I would have had to dilute it like 20 to 1 and use a mask, gloved, eyewear the whole nine. If you search nasioc for Prosoco 600 you will see the thread. Check it out, I was gonna use it but I have a guy who does powder coating locally for $75 per wheel.

i was gonna post the link for that too but i thought people would think i was crazy for all the safety precautions needed to use it haha...Local members have used both the Sonax and Prosoco 600 and have said both worked wonders on their wheels...

If you choose to powder coat i think black would like nice or the gray of those Acura wheels looks cool too
