scottj
The Greddy up-pipe I am putting on my MT wagon seems an 1/8 inch shorter than the OEM pipe and that is causing the AVO380 I am trying to install to interfere with the engine case and not sit flat on the up pipe flange. If I double up the gaskets at the top and bottom of the up-pipe the turbo sits flat. Is this going to work? I was thinking about getting the Grimmspeed double thick gaskets but they only make one for the lower flange, not the upper. Is this a common problem? I already moved exhaust manifold and UP around to get the best fit w/o doubling the gaskets and had no luck.
m sprank
This is not normal. Best bet is to use the GS gasket at the collector/uppipe. Then see where you are at. Double gaskets is a no, no. They are metal layers with an internal ring. Two won't mate properly.
scottj
Maybe I should just get another UP since I don't think a single double gasket will do it.
m sprank
You woud be amazed at how large and thick the GS gasket is. I think they are larger than 2x. They are 12 friggin layers, lol. They have sealed every uppipe leak I have ever encountered. They are a good 1/8" thick.
