can you just use nail polish remover or does it actually have to be pure acetone?

 

haven't tried it, not willing to. I used it on ski sidewalls to make them silky smooth. Will dissolve any plastic in a heartbeat. You could test fate, or just get some sand paper, or one of those wet sanding kits. Or get a junk yard lens to practice on.

Have hazy headlights and dont want to buy a cleaning kit?

Buy yourself a toothbrush and scrub the lenses with toothpaste. I works!

 

 

thats an old detail trick, wet sanding with 1000/2000/3000 grit removes the pits as well.

 

3m sells a a compound i used to use but cant recall the name...

3m fine cut, well worth the 10 ducats, perfect for finishing after the progressive wetsanding. did it on my old car, leg hasn't needed it.

the job works well, but is very labor intensive and takes longer than one might imagine.
