nKoan
Yeah, I like the basket because it gives you a little extra outside storage for gear you don't want inside your car and you can still use all the attachments.
Jim_KT
^^^^^ I've been thinking of picking up a basket for some time now, but will have to put it on the backburner due to a busted CV boot that is need of repair. Do you keep the basket on 24/7? My Yakima rack + Rocky Mounts have been on the car since early June, 2010.
nKoan
I usually have the racks off and put them on when I need. I got in the habit a while ago when I was autocrossing heavily (although I don't do it as seriously anymore). Also, the basket is fairly new. I may start leaving my racks on more, and if that's the case I could see myself leaving the basket on too for a variety of reasons.

jaque8
Just put it on. In fact I need to get some good pics of my car up, I've owned it for like 2 months and here's the mods list so far: -Bilstein HDs w/JDM STi Pinks suspension -SPT Intake -Megan Racing CBE -CNT Downpipe (not installed) -OEM STi Uppipe (not installed) -Infamous stage 1 tune waiting stage 2 -55w 8000k HID -Installed the wing (I actually like them lol) -Stealth mount Valentine 1 radar detector -JVC touchscreen headunit Navigation/DVD/Bluetooth installed in cubby -JL 6.5" Components all around. -10" Kicker sub And finally Yakima Rack setup with surfboard and mtn bike attachment :-) I work at a dealership and tired of selling people all these kickass Subarus and not owning one myself Big plans for this car... And coming from the Supra then BMW then VW crowd the Subaru fans are the best by far!

Biggu
weird question but does anyone have any close up pictures of their towers on a Yakima rack? I just got my legacy and i was going to try to transfer the rack from my mazdaspeed 3 over and not get the new towers. just wanting to see how close it is. since this is a roof rack thread http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b107/2zumeunos/mazdaspeed3/rack/DSC_0304.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b107/2zumeunos/mazdaspeed3/rack/DSC_0289.jpg my mazdaspeed right before i sold it. Jim_KT
If it is the Yakima Q-tower, then it should fit with the Q53 or Q78 clips. I can post pictures this evening.

Brobb11
Who gets greater honors? Thule or Yakima? I am purchasing a rack set up soon for snowboarding and these brands seem very identical. Any tips or comments?
joeblow
I have a Yakima and love it (see above pic). I can't say much about the Thule racks because I've never had or looked at one because I got a great deal on my Yakima used. Once you get the towers, clips, and bars set the first time it only takes 5 minutes to put the rack on whenever you need it. Another cool feature from Yakima is the SKS lock system. You buy the number of cores that you need (I have 6, one for each tower and one each for the front and rear snowboard mount) and one key will lock all of the cores. You can order more cores with the corresponding key pattern if you add more accessories as well. It's cool; I'm with the band
snowfiend
spent way too much on this new Thule Aero setup (ovalized brushed aluminum crossbars instead of the old square bars), but it should look awesome when I put it on next week.. I want to get some clear patches of vinyl to put over the paint before installing http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s88/spegull03/628a9d69.jpg
