Turbo replacement and California Emission warrenty coverage

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere on this site, that the turbo in most GT's is considered part of the emmissions equipment in the state of California, and is actually warrentied up to 7 years or 70,000 miles. Has anyone on this board had their blown turbo replaced as emmisions equipment?

Now, suppose that the turbo blew after the 60k power train warrenty is up, but before the 70k emissions warrenty is up, and in the process, took out the engine. Would the engine be covered? Or would owner be on the hook for the cost of the engine, because the warrenty only covers the turbo?

Just wondering..

Thanks,

C Alan

In most cases if a covered component causes a non covered component to fail, it gets covered. If a non covered component causes a covered component to fail, it does not get covered.
