MtnHighCO
It's a head gasket my friend. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I had 97 and had the same exact problem unfortunately it apparently overheated one to many times and cooked the motor. Good luck Yea probably right but what I want to know is why doesn't it over heat wout the thermostat in it? And how long can I expect to drive it like this? subikid90
How much more damage do you want to your motor? I would replace it as soon as possible to reduce the risk of a more serious problem. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
