albacooch
Hi. I'm a newbie to this site so bear with me please.I have been having problems starting the legacy. I turn the key and it only clicks, eventually it will start. The battery is good and I figured it was the starter or solenoid, but with the lights on there is no noticable dimming or battery drain. Twice now, over the last month, it has caught and fired but the starter continued to run. I immediately shut of the switch and pulled the key but the starter continued to spin. In a few seconds, 5 or so, it quit on its own. Is this a short and if it is, where do I start (no pun intended)? Thanks.
subikid90
I would start with checking the ground wires and make sure they are not corroded, then follow the leads off of the starter and make sure there is nothing that looks bad like bare wires. Sometimes the leads will corrode and cause a bad connection so loosen and re tighten all the wires and take a wire brush to them to clean them up. If this doesn't help you may have a bad starter but start with the wires first. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
