Natejd04
Hey i own a 05 Subaru Legacy GT 5MT and My turbo is shot due to oil clogging in the screen and not allowing it to pass through the turbo. Now the bearing is rattling around inside. I need to get a new turbo, and i had thoughts of an Aftermarket turbo, something like a Forced Performance or an AVO. If i went that route would I need to get a new intercooler, or could i take one out of an STi. I understand ill need an Accessport i was thinking Cobb v2. Will i need to do an UpPipe in order to get better performance. Also, a buddy reccomended i just go with a Stock STi turbo instead, is that a better idea? Thanks,
never summer
Personally, I would just buy a nice condition low mileage stocker. Unless, you have big plans for the car. I really need to get to that banjo bolt asap!
F-WDC Spec B
1. You might be able to get a new turbo through warranty as the banjo filter was recalled. (but im not sure for th 05)2. you will need an aftermarket intercooler, injectors, full pump, a tbe all depending on the turbo size. 3. You can go open source tune, dyno tune or ap, but you will deff need a protune so an AP might not be cost effective.4. you can get a an sti turbo but youll need to change your intake manifold as well and you dont get as much power as an aftermarket. Natejd04
The feedback i was getting from a lot of people earlier was to just do a stock turbo. Could I still get it proffessionally tuned. And would it be noticeablly better?
BalboaT4
I would also get a stock replacement. Might be able to find one used pretty resonable. Yes a tune on the 05's can get you a nice little increase in power. For me the butt dyno could tell a noticeable difference.
