Licksnake
I have a Subaru Legacy Outback 3.0R sedan (2005). Recently, the engine after warming up will begin to sputter when I come to a complete stop at a light. When I accelerate the sputter goes away. The sputter only occurs when the car is in drive with the brake on. The engine sputter also never occurs when i first start it, it only begins when it has fully warmed up. The engine light hasn't come on yet and this has been going on for over a week. any ideas on what is causing the problem? Please HELP!!
max_bobby
Did this occur when it was really cold?
Licksnake
Yes, it first started when it was -20 out. but now it is 30-40 degrees out and it is just getting worse.
max_bobby
I had a similar issue, in my case it was the intake manifold gaskets. It could be a bunch of things, but try the gaskets. Good luck. Just hit me with a pm if you have questions about the cost or work. I also had my PCV valve changed, which can also cause some interesting issues in the winter time. There is a recall going on in Canada, but I didn't get because my car is a US vehicle.
Licksnake
Thanks Max for the input. I just got it back. apparently it was a cylinder misfire. luckily its a small fix and a cheap one at that.
