BarryT82
I bought a car with a seized engine and I'm going to be swapping in a used engine that I found. The replacement engine has 46k miles on it. I'm trying to make a list of what all I should change on it while it's out of the car. I've already purchased a Killer B oil pickup. I plan on changing the spark plugs also. Should I change any seals, tensioners, or the timing belt while it's out?
Mickeytl
Timing belt/waterpump is not recommended until 105k miles. But it you replaced it now then you wouldn't have to replace until 150k miles.
BarryT82
I'm just wanting to change things that would be a pain to change later on with the engine in the car. I don't know how long the engine has been sitting or where either. I haven't seen it yet, but I'll inspect it when I pick it up. It comes with a 4 month warranty. PineyLGT805
Sack up and do a full STi mod on it while you have it out of the engine bay
B-Power-B
Sack up and do a full STi mod on it while you have it out of the engine bay Sack up....lol It sounds like you are on the right track with the maintenance. The timing belt, spark plugs and fluids are a good start. If this were going to be MY car, I would do things differently. But if this were for my gf or if I were not going to keep it long I would go the same route you are. STi motor would be a sweet install but it would require a lot more work. Best of luck to you
