jj808
It will only void part of the warranty if the particular part was the cause. A DP wouldnt void the warranty on the radio. Unless u have a truly dick of a Subaru dealership. Then well, there is no guessing at all. =/
Xenonk
some dealers will let things slide, others will just make you eat your own mistakes raw. So it really depends on how well the installation was. Remember, if you were the dealership service rep, and some guy had x-amount of work done to the car, your job is to minimize the amount of loss on warranty work (because that's coming out of your paycheck in essence). Just use your best judgement. It's not fair to get warranty work on a tranny if the owner put in over 500 whp of work. Or, it's not fair blowing up the whole engine due to overboost by running a boost controller. Or it's not fair to have a air BAG CEL light fix when you swapped the side air bag front seats out and used a resistor to bypass the CEL. TonyDB
Related somewhat to the subject, a friend of mine recently purchuced a new Outback. He kept throwing CEL's left and right. The dealer actually replaced all the cars sensors, yet, he still got the CEL. Last week they pulled out the automatic start, which the dealer had installed, and so far, no CEL's. So it may not be too far fetched for the dealers to argue that installing an after market radio, for example, won't effect some other ECU contolled function.
