Laughngethigh
*update* Got it coded.... "P0505" - IAC circuit or idle speed higher/lower than expected (The ECM has detected that the IAC counts are higher or lower than expected, the engine speed is not in its expected range.) Probable cause - Vacuum leak on engine Dirty Throttle body IAC motor defective Poor electrical connection to the IACV "P0507" - Idle control system RPM higher than expected Probable cause - Large vacuum leak Throttle linkage concern Faulty IACV TPS signal faulty What should I do myself before spending the big bucks at the dealership? 98quiksilvergt
You can back the idle screw out a little. I had the same code and that fixed my problem. It's on the lower drivers side of the t-body.
Laughngethigh
Whenever I first turn the car on it idles high, and whenever its been warmed up it idles low. After driving around for a while, the check engine light goes off. Cant explain this one. I scheduled an appointment at my local Subaru dealership. vermont22gt
You can back the idle screw out a little. I had the same code and that fixed my problem. It's on the lower drivers side of the t-body. Personally, I'd stay away from the idle screw. You got a CEL for IAC circuit. Start there. Remove IAC, spray out the mechanical portion with carb cleaner, new gasket, replace. It's worked for me, it may work for you.
987687
+1 that ^ the idle screw fix is trying to cover up for a bigger problem. It will cause more issues in the long run.
Laughngethigh
Thanks guys. But Im going to let the dealership handle it because I also believe I never got the recalled Camshaft/crankshaft sensors replaced...might as well.
amp27
so is 500 rpm to low. for idle. is this a problem in the mist and should be fixed. i like it though. it bonces from 400 to 700. and its sleath.
987687
Don't go by what the gauge says, it isn't terribly accurate always. Going by my scangauge2 my car idles at 700 +/- 20 RPMs once warmed up.
98quiksilvergt
What iac? I don't see one? Just a tps. My car idled fine before my headgaskets were replaced. We cleaned a crapload of carbon out of everywhere so, I thought it was idling high because there was more flow. That's why I backed the screw out a couple threads. It was sitting around 1400 when cold and 1100 warmed up. It's been fine but were is that iac. If there's a problem with that I'd like to fix it. I don't like to cut corners.
