Laughngethigh
Whenever I turn on my car and press the button on my shifter there is a distinct click in my steering column. It doesnt happen when Im driving, just when I leave or enter Park. Any ideas?
Bdubs
It's the shift lock releasing/engaging as you pull it in and out of P.
Laughngethigh
How would I go about stopping that?
Stang70Fastback
Lol... ...it's SUPPOSED to do that. It's a mechanical safety device. Ensures you don't accidentally shift into gear when you don't mean to.

Stang70Fastback
Hmm, it's fairly loud tho. Like a loud click. Maybe you just noticed it one day and ever since then you've been hearing it? It's definitely something you hear very clearly.
