vjz
Hi all, We bought my sister-in-law a 1996 Legacy LSi Friday night. Its in near mint condition with 164k on the clock. Doesn't leak or anything. Only issues are that the BRAKE light sometimes stays on for extended amounts of time, or doesn't show up at all. One thing I noticed is that they must have added a spoiler at some point. It has the original in-window third brake light AND an LED one in the spoiler. Could that cause the BRAKE light to be how it is? Also, when she was driving back home to Chicago from out house in Indiana, the CEL came on. She had it scanned at the parts store and it came back as P0400 for the EGR system. It looks like the EGR valve was already replaced (nice and shiny). Where should I start with these issues? thanks
rmb2485
That "BRAKE" light is to tell you that the parking brake is set. There should be a little contactor switch in the console by the brake lever, and its probably just loose or corroded. edit: Just to clarify, I'm assuming you're talking about a light in the gauge cluster, not the actual brake lights on the back of the car. vjz
Yes the light on the cluster. I may take that apart next time they are out and see. What about the EGR?
