This passed weekend I just received a set of JDM GT Rev A suspension from HKC. Very nice setup indeed. I couldn't wait to see how this setup handle like so i decided to get dirty.

I start by removing the stock suspension on the driver side. No problem at all, But when I went to install the Blisten suspension I have found out that this setup is about 1 inch longer then the stock. As it sits inside with the 3 top hats bolted on, it sits on the tie rod. Also the 2 bolt holes to the wheel/brake assembly did not line up correctly.

Therefore, as i go to install the new setup the extra inch seem to hit the tie rod. Making it extremely difficult to installs. So i decided to put back the stock suspension for now and seek professional help.

During the process I realize putting back the stock was just as tough, because the force need to push the whole brake assembly downward just to line up the 2 bolt holes.

Can it be that I have to push even further down on the wheel/brake assembly just to install the Blisten? It feel awkward doing it just cause it felt like it's going to snap. So my question is will the extra inch pose a problem on the tie rod as it sits right above the rod if installed on.

Any suggestion or solutions is much appreciated.

Disconnect one of the bushing mounts from your sway bar (2 bolts), that made it 10000x easier for me. This lets you move your sway bar around, so that it doesn't push back and give resistance when you're trying to move the wheel hub up and down.

Thanks for the advices, to clarify things. 1st of life the whole entire front end, 2nd remove the 2 bolt connected to the struts. 3rd remove 2 bolts connected to the sway bars. This is making a whole lot of sense now.

I just figure that extra inch might effect the tie rod with turns the wheels/disc. Because it just seem really close to it, I thought it might hit it as it goes over bump.

It's easier to remove the 2 bolts to the sway bar mount if the car is still on the ground, that way the weight of the wheels don't pull down on it. FYI the passenger side mount is easier to get to for the front. For the rears, both are easy to get to.

I just did my suspension a few weeks ago with a few of the local guys (back to stock from Bilsteins/Swifts for a gravel TSD rally). When we were doing the fronts, at first I only had the driver's side up and it was impossible to get the Bilstein strut out. After twenty minutes of head-scratching, I figured out that it was the sway bar keeping the suspension from drooping. Jacked up the other side, and the job was a piece of cake after that.

Lesson learned: if you get the whole front of the car up, you don't need to disconnect the sways :) Good luck with the install!

sorry...this forum practically blows goat nuts so im not always on here.

Thanks Spoonwacker!! I'll give that a try maybe this weekend. No wonder i had a hard time even getting the stock suspension back on. Will the extra inch extension on the bilstein create any negative effect on the tie rod or other parts surrounding it. The last thing i want after the install is hearing metal to metal contact. Can anyone confirm this please? Thanks
