2005 Legacy Outback - how to iPod

I need some help. Trying to find out if a 2007/08 factory radio with single disk will seamlessly fit into my 2005 Outback.

(like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-08-SUBARU-LEGACY-RADIO-CD-MP3-PLAYER_W0QQitemZ200394736360QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Audio_Video?hash=item2ea87502e8#ht_3937wt_847

My local dealer will NOT confirm at all.

If it will fit, how do I get to the AUX inputs?

There are no standard inputs on the back of the unit, only din plugs.

I have read about issues with six disk changers and climate control - but I have neither of those issues to deal with.

I was hoping this would be as simple as switching head units, finding the correct AUX-in inputs and running a wire for the iPod into one of the compartments.

If all of this is possible, then, are there directions for removal of the current radio? Looks like I start with the shifter trim.

So, does anyone know if the 2007/08 head unit really fit into a 2005?

If so, then how do I deal with the AUX inputs?

Finally, basic instructions for radio removal.

Thanks, I've been digging for a while but have yet to hit upon my exact questions answered.

First of all a question. Does your car have the Auto climate control or manual climate control? It's virtually impossible to swap between them so make sure the HU you buy has the same climate control you've already got.

sseaman's link will help you remove the stereo from the car but you'll need to read this thread for how to get the Aux in working...

There is also an iPod integration kit that works with all satellite radio compatible HU's which the one you linked is.

This kit is WAY easier to install than it will be to get the Aux in working. Unless of course you also want to use the satellite radio. ;)

Cheers!
