neihana Posted November 7, 2009 Share Posted November 7, 2009 hey everyone.need a bit of help with an issue i have with my subie. i recently topped her up with castrol magnatec after puting some low grade oil in. dipstick was reading nearly empty wen i put the 1st stuff in which was only around 2-3 litres. i then put another 2litres in of magnatec.2 days later im blowing white smoke on start up and BOV has a slight splatter of oil coming out after a drive.i dont kill it when im driving i.e thrash it. everything was working fine b4 i topped it up. could the problem be caused by overfilling or something more serious. prety guttered as only just got her. can some1 help me out Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
carguy327 Posted November 7, 2009 Share Posted November 7, 2009 You must have been awfully low to have to put in that much oil. Depending on your mileage, as in HI mileage, it may be coincidental that you are getting a puff of of white smoke ( white is antifreeze, blue is oil ). Try and get a whiff of the exhaust to see if it smells sweet(coolant) or oil like. Otherwise get a proper oil change and keep an eye on the colour of your coolant.
