Subaru Of Canada Test Drive - Montreal

Recommended Posts

First topic that I’m posting on this forum. I participated today at the SOC Legacy 2005 test drive. Most cars were Outback XTs and Legacy GT Limited. All were 5EAT. I took several pictures that I upload and included in this topic. http://www.subarutestdrivecanada.com/indexEN.htm The circuit; a small paved circuit in a large parking lot. Also there was a dirt circuit with a hill designed for the Outbacks. So I tested Legacy GT Limited wagons on the small paved circuit which accounted for a very short drive. I repeated the exercice 4 times; 3 with the wagon and once with the sedan. The first part of the cuircuit was intented to accelerate as much as possible and then slam the breakes to test the ABS brakes. My impressions (I'm no car expert, I just love cars in general and have limited technical knowledge); Interior: I was impressed. Seats; I thought they were awesome and really liked the soft charcoal perforated leather. Moonroof is very impressive. Acceleration; felt OK, although it was an automatic driven in sports mode and also in semi-automatic mode. You feel the car really pushing when reaching higher rpms, didn’t have time to look at the rpm gauge though to verify when most of the torque is felt (but I guess it would have to be around 3,000). From a stop, it didn’t feel like it was faster than my GTI VR6 that provides torque instantly. However the car felt extremely capable in terms of handling and also acceleration if the acceleration stretch had been longer. Overall impressions; I basically felt at home with this car, it really felt like a fun and sporty car to drive with lots of potential. I will probably purchase this car; a Garnett Red or Black 2.5 GT Limited wagon MT (will try to convince the wife for a MT though…) Pictures; took a lot, I’m sure it’s not going to be new stuff for most of you but I’ll post them anyhow. The car and color that I want…Garnett red turns out to be my favourite colour after all even if it’s not as bright as I would have hoped for. Black would be my second choice. Merci! :) That's the only French I know. :) I REALLY liked the hood shots of the red, silver, RB and AB cars. The consistent angle you picked really shows some of the nuances of each color. :) And made me think that it's going to be silver for me, after all. :)

Maybe we should start a new tread... Something like: Francophones, francophiles et ceux qui aimeraient l'être! Any suggestions? For my car to be, silver was the "rapid" choice as it was one of the first to arrive. There were 3 colors available for delivery within a few weeks: white, black and silver. It could have been white (always tought white cars are girls' cars...) or black (very nice, but sooooo hard to keep clean, espespecialy here in Québec's winter). Silver looks sharp, even when not sparkling clean. Finally, it's the color that shows rock chips the least.
