mileage re timing belt replacement 2001 Outback

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Okay, so it's an Outback question, but I've been on the forum for a long time with some Legacies, so I figure I'm entitled?

Anyone know when you really need to replace the timing belt on a normally aspirated 2001 Outback. I find wildly different opinions when I just Google for an answer.

Thanks!

We have an '02 Outback. Unfortunately I don't know when it "really needs" to be replaced as the phucking tensioner has failed three times within 120,000 miles and I replaced the timing belt each time.

It is to be replaced at 105,000 miles per the maintenance schedule that came with the car.

It is still ugly.

It is 105,000 miles for a 2.5 motor like Pillboy has stated.
