SI Drive opening screen

BAC5.2

Recommended Posts

I wonder what the coding looks like for the startup display on the SI drive console.

Clearly, there are multiple colors available (well, two... amber and 'white')

I wonder if there were some way to reprogram the LCD to do something other than the startup-throttle-graph animation. I'd rather it start up with "SUBARU" like the radio, or something different like "Good Morning [Name]"

Anyone care to explore the possibilities of what controls the starup proceedure for the gauge cluster? It's possible it's just a chip that we could read, reflash, then reinstall.

Hmm, looking at the factory service manual, there IS a standalone mini-computer (subaru calls it a Micro Computer) that controls the entire information display center. That controller, apparently, contains an LCD driver.

I wonder if that micro computer has its own part number... I also wonder how much it would cost... and what's on the inside..

I bet a jig could be built to reflash the LCD driver, and replace the opening sequence with something else.

Bummer, no luck finding much info so far.

I really wanted a "wait to start" screen instead of the TPS sweep.
