New Pics - Post Window Tint and Nav & BlueTooth Kit Installs

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I've posted some new pics after having my windows tinted and a Parrot 3100 BT kit and Nav installed in-dash. The tint was free based on the car purchase agreement.

I didn't want to spend almost $3K to do a Double DIN nav install so I went with a new Garmin 1390 T (T = traffic service) and had them remove the center cubby and install the nav there and they produced a custom face plate. They also installed the Parrot kit and ran it through the factory stereo so it cuts power when calling out or receiving a call. The Parrot 3100 has a small screen so one can see the phone book and all one's entry's or one can call using voice commands.

The costs were:

Nav = $399

Parrot 3100 = $178

Install for both = $189

Misc = $15

Total = $781

the price seems to be a little steep for me, but install looks great

I agree. For almost that price, you could have gotten the JDM dual din kit with an aftermarket HU and wired it up yourself. But hey, that's just what I would have done. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters. :)

Nice looking that's for sure.. I'm thinking of doing that myself but keeping it recessed further in to keep the stock door flip in case I want to cover up the GPS unit :)

The Nav would not fit in the cubby. I bought one of the smallest with the features I wanted and it would stick out and look weird if I had kept the cubby. The great thing, reversing this would take 15 mins and I could simply slip the whole cubby back in again.

Thanks. I got two quotes to install a touch screen, Nav & BT kit (equipment alone was $1700) and installation was another $900 (including custom fabrication to fit in the screen) and I did not want to drop $2800 to get nav and BT. I also looked at a Double DIN but neither place would do it due to the brace behind the cubby being part of the car's safety equipment and they would not touch it which apparently was required to fit the double DIN in.

I'm happy with the results and to me it was all worth just under $800.
