dsmith
I am considering having a custom cat-back fabricated to mate up with my Perrin catless downpipe. Since the fumes from running catless are a bit intense at times, I was tossing around the idea of having the exhaust shop place a high flow cat where the stock resonator is. My question is this: would having a cat that far back be effective at all, or would the exhaust gases have cooled down too far to be able to heat up the cat enough for it to do its job? Any thoughts? Thanks, Doug
rc0032
I asked the same questions and RAO and Suby555 both confirmed the cat would be too far back to get hot enough to work properly.
Jaxx
to throw in some decent there only needs to be 1 degree diff between the intake and output for a cat to work at start up: no, its gonna stink after highway cruse it will be just fine
BadAndy
Just have them weld a cat as far up the downpipe as possible and you should be fine.
