gt_ltd
Has anybody seen the LED headlights (I think there are 5 on each side) on the new Audi A8? Audi uses them as DRL but are they powerful enough at night? This Space For Rent
03Indigo
They are VERY bright for night driving. I don't think they are out on any production car at this point, the A8L still uses Xenons for the regular beam, but the prototype Q7, aka, the pikes peak, has them. Not sure if they will show up in production, but I actually saw some free standing units running at a tech session sponsored by ACNA, Audi Club of North America. Just like Xenons are showing up more on other cars, eventually all lights on production cars will switch to LED's, more light, less power, less failure. Or so they say. I would love to have them. I have several friends that have switched most of their accessory lights, brakes, turnsignals, dome lights, etc, to LED's.
gt_ltd
this month's FHM says the A8L series is the first production car to use LED frontlights. This Space For Rent
03Indigo
cool, did not know that, guess maybe there was a model year change, but they first came out in 2004 and had xenons. I will have to keep my eyes open with my Audi friends and see what is up with them.
