DerekNitroRC
I want to change out my muffler for a new one since my car is too quiet but I don't want it to be really loud either since it is a slow station wagon I was thinking Magnaflow but I think that will be too loud so I decided I would try an STi muffler, how hard would it be to adapt one to my my Legacy? (2000 GT). Where can I even find one at a reasonable price? Should I even bother with it and just upgrade to another muffler? Thanks for any help
Bdubs
You can find one here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=149 If you aren't a member, sign up and post in the Want To Buy section if you can't find one in there. That's how I get most of my stuff, I just post a WTB post, and a lot of members will PM you and basically just want to get rid of it for a pretty minimal price. It will work, but you will have to modify it, so the best bet would be to bring it to an exhaust shop, have them move the hangers around and weld it up to your current system. DerekNitroRC
would you recommend going that route or another muffler? basically I'm looking for something that when doing normal driving it doesn't upset the neighbors but when I get on it I would like it to be more throaty. I will try that forum though
8-02GT
I have an 02 LGT that I put a stromung catback system on. Sounds real nice not to loud but a big improvement over stock. Check them out a boxer4racing.com the guy there will help you out.
DerekNitroRC
$1k is a hefty amount to chew for a car that is only worth $6k, I'll try looking for a used one

DerekNitroRC
total cost was around $230 $150 for STi catback with one cat $50 for welding supplies (wire) $30 for extra piping and gaskets and here is a video of the project [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt1L2LU1tuU]YouTube- 2000 Legacy GT Wagon with 2006 Subaru STi catback[/ame]

I bought an adapter that should allow me to bolt up a stock WRX or STI cabtack to my sister's 04' OBS. Adapter cost me $94 and I found a stock 05' WRX catback for $50. Nice work on that custom piece though.

When I bought the catback, the guy gave me a cat as well...but without the O2 sensor :\
scoobydoobie
Oh OK I gotcha, was confused by that line. Are the STI cats more free flowing than your stock cats? Why not use an existing bolt on HFC pipe (Stromung, Random Tech, MS3)?
DerekNitroRC
I would assume so, it has a larger inlet/outlets, just trying to complete the full exhaust. I'm trying not to spend any money and that is why I'm not using a Stromung, Random Tech, etc...
