johnnymack
My buddy and I installed the Kartboy 6 SPD Short Throw Shifter in the Leggy today. Not as easy as the 5 SPD because of the "R" reverse cable + collar. Its just like the STi and for a reference point we used the instructions from ScoobyMods.com: Short Throw Shifter: http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/kartboy_sti_short_shifter-t3786.html Rear bushing :http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/kartboy_rear_shifter_bushing-t5047.html Shifter Bushings:http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/kartboy_sti_shifter_bushing-t3790.html The instructions were excellent, but if you've done it once before, its pretty self explanatory. Its definately a 2 man job as one person must wiggle/hold the "R" cable inside the shift lever and then screw the cable into the collar. One guy has to be in the drivers seat and the other person has to be underneath the car. I've said this before but this is always going to be the first mod I do to any manual trans. car I own. Shifts are short and stick hard thanks to the bushings and the height of the shifter dropped by about an inch. I love it! Kartboy sent me a knob to a 5 SPD STS (yet everything else was for a 6 spd. WTF?) so I will have to send it back hand have them give me the right one. For now, the stock knob is just fine. Thanks Ben!

johnnymack
Nice. I agree that it is must do for an MT vehicle. I love my Kartboy STS. Do you have a little more noise/squeaking at random times from your STS? Specifically the lever? (I've driven the car for 1 hour since the install). I used a lot of grease on the ball/socket part of the lever. From time to time it will squeak/rattle. Suggestions on a fix?
fonts
There is more noise...... especially tranny noise in 2nd .... but I wouldn't call it a squeaking. Definitely the much more audible click while shifting ...
