keviwe
I just bought an 07 Legacy 2.5i with 53K miles. The local tire shop says I need new front struts. Are stock aftermarket struts available? Tire guy says monroe have a lifetime warranty and will fit my car. I ask this only because of other threads confusing me. Is there a do-it-yourself-guide available? I suppose I need spring compressors?
katalyst
you could do koni inserts, they have them on tirerack.com also i think crucial racing on here carries them, check the vendor section edit: i believe tirerack also sells the OEM struts manufactured from KYB

NORULZleggy
ahhh why would your struts be out at 50k plus miles? just wondering, cause that does not sound right.
keviwe
The local tire shop said they were about ready to be replaced because they are beginning to leak. I did check them and there is some slight leakage but there are absolutely no handling issues or wheel bounce so I figured I'd do some research. Some comments in another thread said that OE struts were junk and replacing them at 50K to 60K miles was normal.
