OCDetails
The paint on your car is the most expensive part of it. To properly prep and repaint your car in a high quality way would probably be in the realm of $3000. That would include trying to paint the engine bay (practically impossible to do with the engine still in place), door jambs, underside of hood and trunk, and every other painted surface on the car. If you want a shit paint job then you can go to Maaco and pay $500 for a substandard job that will start chiping before you even get it home If you want a great base coat that is free of orange peel and fish eyes with a clear coat on it then you will be shelling out some major money. It can cost $400 just to get a bumper repainted properly. That gives you an idea of the cost per square inch for a new color. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . SFGR415
A buddy of mine bought a red Mazda RX-8 and about a month later decided that he wanted the car to be midnight blue pearl (similar to the "black" 02-03 wrx). The paint job was $4500 and included door jambs, etc. but did not include painting the engine bay nor the trunk (under carpet). When you pop the hood, it looks like @ss (blue car, red engine bay). axis008
In other words, if you're going to spend that much money paint your car a really unique color! Something like the WR1 STi's ice blue color (drool).. -ben
Nsaglibene
I would love to see a nice sporty red color, why does subaru lack this color? I think bright red is the biggest thing that an EVO has over an STi. Subaru has to start offereing a better red. -NS
SubyLover
Well, wr pearl blue is Subaru's trademark color. That's why they focus more on a nice blue instead of a nice red.
