rice_rocket
Well yesterday the weather was really nice so I did a super wax job on the car. I noticed this area right on the rear quarter panel driver's side just before the spoiler on the trunk. It looks like a little burn mark ie when the water flies off the car and dries... but when I put my finger over it it's dry/rough as if that area has the clear coat burned off. There's no "sparkle" in the black paint either. I waxed it over a few times just to see if it got better, and even put the clay bar to it for a sec. Is this common, and what can I do about it? The car is an 05 that has 38K on the clock, no other visible paint blemishes other than rock chips and scratches!
theflystyle
there is another post in the general legacy forum about an 05 with its bumper peeling.... thought there is pointing to a bad paint job. you keep up with the exterior im asuming if you were waxing when you noticed it. laz
It may well be burned through clear coat. Something abrasive needs to come in contact with the clear coat and burn it off. It happens a lot when wet sanding cars to get rid of imperfections/scratches. Only fix is to spot blend and re-clear if that is what it is. Any pics?
