jah77clash
well i did it! the rims i found, dude pretty much bought the car, drove home and put on aftermarkets. estimated 30miles on em. got RE92's (i know, dont care)(im n/a) with about 9000 miles esitmated on em. looks good, sits a lil higher. but not bad. went from 205/55/R16 to 205/50/R17. give me a sunny day, and a carwash and i'll post some pics up:)

KAG
Looks good! Nice job on clearing the headlights too. got RE92's (i know, dont care)(im n/a) with about 9000 miles esitmated on em. looks good, sits a lil higher. but not bad. Just because your car is n/a doesn't mean you don't need good tires. A set of good tires can drastically improve a cars braking, handling and ride, and all-wheel-drive only makes it a lot more fun. jah77clash
^^^thanks, thats true, and good advise. i just found a decent set for a low price. i guess my statement was a pre-emptive counter to the flames i expected for getting them
cman7
Wow. Those look really good. At the beginning of the thread I wasn't so sure but damn, you really pulled it off. Very nice!

Verwilderd
If you want to fix the height, just get a smaller profile tire. If the overall diameter (wheel and tire combined) is bigger than the stock diameter it could throw off your speedo and make the car sit higher off the ground. If you want the stock height you need to change the rubber band size to a lower profile.
jah77clash
thanks for checking it out! i like these wheels the best out of all the newer model stock rims. its a great option if you cant afford aftermarket performance rims. im happy with the overall appearance. that white one looks pretty good too. thanks for posting that up! i used this calculator and it isn't drastic enough of a change for further correction. http://www.web-cars.com/math/tiresize.html The circumference of the P205/55 x 16 original tire is 78.1563 inches The circumference of the P205/50 x 17 aftermarket tire is 78.7623 inches Your speedometer reading is 99.2% of your true speed. Without correction, your speedometer error will be: Indicated speed: 10 mph. Actual Speed: 10.0 mph. Indicated speed: 15 mph. Actual Speed: 15.1 mph. Indicated speed: 20 mph. Actual Speed: 20.1 mph. Verwilderd
yeah, I doubt it would throw it off drastically. But that 1/2 in would make your car look a little higher. But all and all you made those wheels look good. I didn't think they looked that good on the 08 WRX (however the 09 is the same, but gunmetal...that helped), but on your car, I like! D_J
09's use 225/45/R17's I thought. I really like the dark gunmetal gray WRX wheels and would like them on my Outback.

Daedalus
The '08 WRX uses a 205/50 tire? I'm very surprised at that.
D_J
2009's are 225/45 R17 , maybe 2008's are different. That's straight from Subaru.com for the WRX spec's.
Verwilderd
09's are 225 and 08's are 205. They changed the tire in 09. 09's also get a summer tire instead of crappy bridgestones.
D_J
Did the Rim width change at all on the WRX's from 08 to 09 or they just come with wider tires now?
Verwilderd
I think the rim changed to 7.5 from 7. If they were the same size I think you would have had to switch those 205's to fit the rim. Either that or you would notice the 225's bulging over.
D_J
I might be in business then , coz my Outback uses 225/55/R17's. So sounds like the '09 WRX and Outback both have similar sized wheels. I might try 225/55's on the WRX rims. Any idea if that will fit? Just a taller tire, same width.
Verwilderd
They'll fit. Should be the same bolt pattern, buy you'll need a taller tire. The wrx tire will throw off the look. Don't know how much though or what of will look like. Also could throw off the speedo, but I doubt it will be significant.
D_J
Definitely need taller tire...the tallest Nokian WRG2 for 225 is 55(R17). I might have to go with a different tire, would like to get even taller.
Verwilderd
Just make sure you try to keep the overall diameter the same, ie, bigger tire, smaller rim....bigger rim, smaller tire. If you have too big of an increase or decrease in diameter size it'll throw off your speedo.
