looking @ these stock rims to replace the snowflakes on my BE. i think they're 17s and my stocks are 16s.

1. are these compatible?

2. will i have to lower my ride to keep it from looking awkward?

thanks to all givers of advise.

i just wanna make sure i didn't miss the

"these will not fit" memo

went from 205/55/R16 to 205/50/R17.

give me a sunny day, and a carwash and i'll post some pics up:)

Looks good! Nice job on clearing the headlights too.

Just because your car is n/a doesn't mean you don't need good tires. A set of good tires can drastically improve a cars braking, handling and ride, and all-wheel-drive only makes it a lot more fun. ;)

If you want to fix the height, just get a smaller profile tire. If the overall diameter (wheel and tire combined) is bigger than the stock diameter it could throw off your speedo and make the car sit higher off the ground. If you want the stock height you need to change the rubber band size to a lower profile.

thanks for checking it out!

i like these wheels the best out of all the newer model stock rims.

its a great option if you cant afford aftermarket performance rims. im happy with the overall appearance.

that white one looks pretty good too.

thanks for posting that up!

i used this calculator and it isn't drastic enough of a change for further correction.

http://www.web-cars.com/math/tiresize.html

The circumference of the P205/55 x 16 original tire is 78.1563 inches

The circumference of the P205/50 x 17 aftermarket tire is 78.7623 inches

Your speedometer reading is 99.2% of your true speed.

Without correction, your speedometer error will be:

Indicated speed: 10 mph. Actual Speed: 10.0 mph.

Indicated speed: 15 mph. Actual Speed: 15.1 mph.

Indicated speed: 20 mph. Actual Speed: 20.1 mph.

Indicated speed: 25 mph. Actual Speed: 25.1 mph.

Indicated speed: 30 mph. Actual Speed: 30.2 mph.

Indicated speed: 35 mph. Actual Speed: 35.2 mph.

Indicated speed: 40 mph. Actual Speed: 40.3 mph.

Indicated speed: 45 mph. Actual Speed: 45.3 mph.

Indicated speed: 50 mph. Actual Speed: 50.3 mph.

Indicated speed: 55 mph. Actual Speed: 55.4 mph.

Indicated speed: 60 mph. Actual Speed: 60.4 mph.

Indicated speed: 65 mph. Actual Speed: 65.5 mph.

Indicated speed: 70 mph. Actual Speed: 70.5 mph.

Indicated speed: 75 mph. Actual Speed: 75.5 mph.

Indicated speed: 80 mph. Actual Speed: 80.6 mph.

Indicated speed: 85 mph. Actual Speed: 85.6 mph.

Indicated speed: 90 mph. Actual Speed: 90.6 mph.

Indicated speed: 95 mph. Actual Speed: 95.7 mph.

Indicated speed: 100 mph. Actual Speed: 100. mph.

yeah, I doubt it would throw it off drastically. But that 1/2 in would make your car look a little higher. But all and all you made those wheels look good. I didn't think they looked that good on the 08 WRX (however the 09 is the same, but gunmetal...that helped), but on your car, I like!

I might be in business then , coz my Outback uses 225/55/R17's. So sounds like the '09 WRX and Outback both have similar sized wheels. I might try 225/55's on the WRX rims.

Any idea if that will fit? Just a taller tire, same width.

They'll fit. Should be the same bolt pattern, buy you'll need a taller tire. The wrx tire will throw off the look. Don't know how much though or what of will look like. Also could throw off the speedo, but I doubt it will be significant.
