Cone_Killer
Well I see you guys got a nice kick out of my previous thread but as being a long time member of another site I know not to get onto the mods nerves. Anyways, I am just finishing up building a single exhaust on my 05' GT and am wondering if there is any TRUE interest in producing these. It will be a full 3" system from the Down pipe back. I will get pics up asap but here is a short description until I do. The exhaust uses a 2.5" to 3" concentric reducer to retain the stock flange to the DP, it then goes into a V-band flange located where the stock resonator is. The O2 sensor retains is factory position. It then sweeps off and exits to the left (drivers side) through a stainless canister muffler. I will most likely offer a version with a cat or resonator at an additional cost. Please give honest opinions here on whether you would buy one or not. Thanks, Tyler. Scruit
I don't get it. Forums for cars with single exhausts are full of threads gauging interest for dual exhausts... You might as well be gauging interest in a turbo-delete kit.
Bolksey85
What to do about the bumper? Leave an empty slot? And when you say "canister muffler", that basically means fart can, right? Most everyone here tries to avoid that.
Ryouske
I'd like to see it. I've seen FC's with single exhausts, it'd be something different. I thought I saw a single exhaust in the reviews section already though.

You might as well be gauging interest in a turbo-delete kit. It makes sense in our cars. In reality, our vehicle has a single exhaust that just has a Y pipe to split it and make it have dual tips out the rear. The idea behind a single exhaust for our vehicles is to eliminate the Y pipe and allow the gasses to exit the exhaust system quicker and more freely. AWDxBOOST
i really doubt it will flow tons better than the fake duals we got. it'll have the advantage of being 3" the whole way instead of tapering to 2.75" like most kits. also, it should be cheaper because there is one less muffler. The idea behind a single exhaust for our vehicles is to eliminate the Y pipe and allow the gasses to exit the exhaust system quicker and more freely. I think if this could be backed up with actual data, people might be receptive to it. It has the obvious downside that your single exhaust exit point must be twice as large as the separated duals. I'm not convinced that it would have any significant flow advantage, but I'm always open to being proven wrong!
AWDxBOOST
i could do a cae simulation, but im wayyy to lazy to do that for free
UniqueTII
I'd like to see it. I've seen FC's with single exhausts, it'd be something different. I thought I saw a single exhaust in the reviews section already though. I always wanted a single exhaust on my FCs but I couldn't find a bumper with only one cutout. I hated how they looked with the stock bumper and a single exit.

Guest LGT-NY
Aaronlee did this. It sounds more like a WRX.
frostbite3360
I did the single exhaust route, custom though. Not many options for exhaust on a 2.5i, and theres no real reason for the dual exhaust anyways. Only real reason would be to keep the looks, and so there isnt a hole under the rear bumper. But I think it looks good still and dont mind the empty space, I barely notice it and neither does anyone else. Save $ too cuz u only need to get one muffler. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=33252290&l=18b9a&id=68110112 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=33252297&l=e8c31&id=68110112 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=33252292&l=cd7f1&id=68110112 It really does sound like a WRX, just minus the turbo if you can imagine that Here's a thread on how I did it too and what it looked like from the bottom. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71472 Interest in an aftermarket single exhaust system might be interesting to some people. I know I like mine the way it is.
Cone_Killer
Hey guys. I really appreciate the responses, even the negative ones. I have decided to use a band clamp on the muffler instead of welding it to the pipe so I am awaiting its arrival. As soon as its here, pics will be on the way. Thanks again, Tyler. black318i
I would if it was fairly quiet and if there was a way to address the empty cutout issue.
808LGT
IMO, it takes away some of the identity of the LGT, and makes it more WRXish.....i say leave the single to the WRX
