GTkansan Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 So I just finished my leather seat swap. YAY. I now have a full set of cloth seats that I dont know waht to do with. I think Ill make the driver seat into an chair. Anyone done this before? Anyone know of a mount that would work? I guess I could machine an aluminum one in the shop. el5y Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 I did the same thing with my old car's seats Took a regular office chair with a broken back, tore off all the fabric and foam leaving just the base with wheels and the wooden base of the seat portion. Remove the original seat rails that attached to the car, took L brackets and attached them to the holes for the seat rails and screwed those into the wooden base. profmathers Posted February 11, 2009 Share Posted February 11, 2009 YMMV: There's an office furniture liquidator near me that sells all sorts of stuff...sitting in a Haworth Accolade that only cost $15...'cause they didn't want to CLEAN it. There has to be something like that near you. Buy a finished chair with a good mechanism and crappy upholstery, and bolt to your seat pan with a reinforcing plate. Voila!
