djkxgo0k
Over the past week, I have noticed that as I turn my steering wheel at low speeds (~5 - 10mph) it begins to shake. This is not the braking shudder that many people feel, it is while turning at low speeds only. Once i start going faster, it goes back to normal. It feels as if the steering wheel is having a hard time turning and is a little more difficult to turn than normal. I checked and double checked the power steering fluid and it's perfect. Anyone have any ideas?
wngan9447
is it consistent or just when its cold? Does it go away after a while? I'm thinking it's the power steering belt or your pump is starting to go...
djkxgo0k
it happens right after i start the car everytime. it's not that cold where i am, never below 25 degrees fahrenheit.
Gatvol
It might be ice on the brakes or wheel? I thought I had a major prob the other day. Turns out ice was on the brakes and was causing a wicked shimmy. I let the car sit for a few hours then drove it again and it was fine. May be the cause of the gremlin in ure car! djkxgo0k
today i noticed that as i turn the steering wheel while stationary, it's worse. the battery and brake light begin to blink once i get near the locked position and vibration is really bad. i checked the drive belt today and it's really worn down. i'm going to replace it and see if it fixes the problem ::crosses fingers::
PeterJMC
I'm getting this same problem. I don' t get any battery or brake lights though. I haven't checked my belt yet, but I guess I'll be doing that after work!
Dawrah
ive got the same problem but only occurs at very cold temperatures and when the car is moving very slowly or stopped. i have replaced the belts. im thinking the pump just cant take the massive load w/ cold fluid and no wheel movement. actually ive had my friend look at the belts while i was cranking the steering and we noticed that under a heavy load/stress there is so much resistance in the pump that the wheel doesnt move at a consistent speed and the belts were well tensioned down. thus i say the pump cant take high stress too well

jerryberkowitz
Same problem with my 2002 legacy gt. My mechanic says the power steering rack is bad but there are no leaks and the reservior level is steady and the problem comes and goes and was dormant for 8 weeks. Does anyone have any ideas? AZP Installs
From our experience, this is usually a sign that new belts are needed and/or that the tension needs to be checked and adjusted. -mike http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpghttp://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/141039922.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg Call directly as We carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us.
