Be nice my car is filthy... I have 2 kids and no time to clean like I used to.

The entire process took me about 30min. If I had to do it again I could do it in half that time since I was basically just blindly figuring it out as I went. I had the idea, eyeballed it to confirm it would work then just went at it. Rough steps below:

1) Pull out the cubby. It just comes straight out, no tabs. I pulled hard on the door with it half closed and was able to get my fingers behind the bezel to finish it off. A plastic tool would have made it easier.

2) Disconnect the light and info center harnesses.

3) Take off the door and spring. The pics above may help explain it but it is self explanatory as soon as you see it. Everything is well engineered and durable.

4) Feed the power cable up the center console and into the cubby. Hide it up into the center console next to the carpet and plug into back console cigarette lighter. Feeding the wire was done by fishing a coat hanger down to the floor, then taping the wire to it and pulling back up.

5) Push cubby back in and reconnect harnesses (I left the one for the light off).

6) Stick on your suction cup and enjoy.

I bought the bean bag mount and an extra power adapter when we take this in the other car. I thought I would be bugged by the unclean look of what is left without the door in place, but so far it is not an issue. I can always put it back in 15min. I figured I would share this in case anyone is interested. I assume this will work with many of the new Nuvi models. I would think it would at least work with the 200W, 205W, 250W, 255W, and 265WT. Likely the entire 700 series as well since they appear to have the same case. Let me know if you have any questions.

Looks nice. I'm thinking to do something similar to mount my

Sirius Stratus receiver.

I didn't realize you could do this. I thought I'd read elsewhere that you

have to pull the entire dash section (also containing the two vent louvers

to either side of the cubby) in order to get the cubby out. But you only

pulled the cubby itself, right ?

Duh, never mind. Just looked at the pictures more closely ...

2) Disconnect the light and info center harnesses.

Is there a light in the cubby ? Mine doesn't seem to have one.

Wonder if it's burnt out or if some models don't have it.

Yes, my 05' LGT has a light in there up top. It is extremely small and cannot be more than a few watts. It would apparently stay on all the time. If I looked closely with the door almost closed I could still see it.

Cover up that yellow sticker and it will mesh in even better.

Id do this with my nuvi 765t, but my sirius reciever is in my cubby now and dont have an alternate place for it. So my navi gets windshield duty by the driver side A pillar. Works good. Just keep a cloth around to clean up the suction cup marks and keep the navi charged so you dont need to have the cord out unless your on a 3hr+ trip.
