Seats for 98 Legacy

Recommended Posts

Im looking to get new seats for my 98 Legacy. I have seen a few posts around about airbag function and fitment when swapping seats and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Should I:

Look for some used seats from another 98/99 legacy

get my seats recovered

find some used newer legacy/wrx seats (if any years would swap)

buy aftermarket seats (such as recaro etc.)

Thanks for the help!

If you are willing to spend the money on Recaro seats - well, you are welcome, but they are expensive.

Used seats is probably the best option. Just be careful when changing them - especially in the winter if they have built-in airbags since dry air makes for static electricity and that can make them go *boom*. (I'm not sure when airbags in seats appeared, and it may depend on market, I just hope that I never need to use my bags.)

Recovering the old ones is of course an alternative.

WRX seats would swap, the 02/03 years are very comfortable and the fabric colors don't clash too bad with the Legacy interior.

No need to worry about the airbags, there are no sensors within the seats, so you won't have any trouble there. The WRX seats have airbags in the seats, but that isn't a problem, you could hide the harness or just snip it off.
