Which radar detector is this?

This is advertised as a BEL Vector STi Radar Detector . I have seen some others advertise STi Driver and a STi-R. After reading the reviews, I'm interested in the STi Driver. Which model is in the pic below?

Looking at the picture, looks like the STi. Hard to tell though.

That's an old Vector series STi.

Sebastian, unless you, for whatever reason - i.e. frequently travel to/through VA/DC, parts of Canada, or in various other restricted areas, where you cannot legally use a radar detector - you don't really need the STi-Driver.

 

Since you're in Ohio, you don't need the STi-Driver, in terms of its stealth (cloaked to all RDDs) technology....

 

I'd recommend that you look at a V1, if you are either unwilling or unable to funnel cash towards obtaining a GOOD active laser jammer, or, alternatively, if you will look for proper laser protection, instead to consider a new or gently used second-tier (but current-generation) detector.

BTW, Sebastian, I forgot to mention the old Vector series STi is *NOT* Spectre proof.

 

Again, if you intend on driving into a detector-banned area, this is NOT a valid bargin for you to go with, as, IIRC, an Australian enthusiast/hobbyist group test of the old Vector STi showed Spectre RDD detectability at well over 800 METERS.

 

If RDD undetectability is one of your needs, you really do need to pony-up the bucks, and get the current-generation STi-Driver.

Ended up getting a deal on a Bel 955. I live in ohio and don't really care about stealth technology.

Seb, I forgot to tell you - be sure you've bought it, if you're buying new, from a reputable source....Beltronics/Escort has blacklisted a whole bunch of dealers/resellers as "unauthorized," and you will NOT get factory-warranty support, if you bought from these resellers.

 

They're listed on each one's website.

 

Please check, as there are many "big" sources, such as Overstock.com , who appear on that list, and yes, I know people who've had their warranty claims denied, due to just such.

 

BTW, RadarBusters is offering the 955 for around $160, IIRC, and from the SpeedTrapHunter Forum, I know that BuyRadarDetectors is offering a combo deal, with the 955 and VEIL, for around $245.
