steering loosening up?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if its covered or not, I tried the mythical search function, but I guess my inquiries were too vague. Anyways, I'm discovering as I put more miles on my car, the steering is loosening up, i.e. at low, parking lot speeds it feels easier for me to actually steer into parking spots, etc. Before, I really had to wrestle the wheel to get it to move.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this?

could just be the tires wearing. Check the level on the power steering fluid, though--this seems to be an issue.

wouldn't low power steering give you the opposite effect?and fluid doesn't increase over time ... so unless you mean someone topped the fluid off at the last service ... i'm confused.

it's probably your entire steering system breaking in as well. Tires are wearing a little bit as well. When you change the camber to more negative, the steering will not only get more heavy, but there's an initial pause after the input.. I am still trying to trouble shoot this issue on my modified GT.
