BobsYourUncle
Hey guys... I just picked up an 08 Legacy, and I was wondering how everyone sets up their Sirius with it. I dont really want to spend $400 to get the Subaru brain, but I dont want a big radio hanging of the dash. Has anyone made a clean setup with their receiver? My sportster fit perfectly in my Mustang, but i cant find a place for it in the Subby.... 2007GT
Lol! I just got my 2007 and found this in my search. I also have a sportster that fit perfectly in my Mustang and am looking for options in the LGT. I definitely don't want my big old Sportster 2 cluttering up my interior now...and listening to broadcast radio reminds me of why I pay for satellite radio. Backlash
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100102 pic in there of where many of us put the Antenna. I have a Sportster 5, i have the display on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. out of the way for driving, yet easy to read. there are installs in the cubby, but you have to remove the door on the sportster series. i'm about to try the Panasonic controls, make the factory HU control the Sportster... if it works, i'll put the Sportster in the glove box or something. squishyface
I put my sportster 5 on the driver side vent (wanted it out of the windshield)
Backlash
Mine is exactly where Seb's is. but Sportster 5. and for his exact reasons.
CzarDestructo
Reposting here, Sportster 5 fits absolutely perfect into the cubby if you remove the door. I have nothing mounting or holding it there, just a perfect fit and it wedges into place. I'd like to cut a piece of textured black plastic to frame it out and make it look nice but I'm too lazy. Cost me $50 for the unit, way cheaper than the Subaru one which doesn't even support scrolling text so you have no idea what you're listening to. http://members.cox.net/spedonabike/Legacy/IMG_0156.jpg http://members.cox.net/spedonabike/Legacy/IMG_0159.jpg
zmarko
way cheaper than the Subaru one which doesn't even support scrolling text so you have no idea what you're listening to. I usually just listen to the music to figure out what I"m listening to.
CzarDestructo
It's not uncommon to listen to channels which introduce one to new music, that's mostly the point when you're paying a monthly fee to get over 100 channels of variety... 05LegacyGTLimited
I just installed the factory Sirius module (that I got for a good price!) and had my lifetime subscription swapped over. It was really easy! Plus I got to install the autodim homelink mirror! http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y90/97IntrepidES/2009%20Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Limited/IMG_0858.jpg
Backlash
i would have purchased the Sirius factory install, but i spend most of my time NOT in my car... thats why i went to a portable unit. and the stupid extra fee to have a second receiver for your car. CzarDestructo
That's where I'm thinking I'll put it too. Any progress on putting some sort of trim around it to hide the void? I was considering ordering a blank cubby pod but decided I could do the same with fiber. When the weather gets warmer I plan on pulling out the whole vent piece again and molding some fiber to hold the Sportster. Unless someone has an easier idea. It should be noted, removing the cubby door also removes needed shielding for the clock/computer below it. The sunlight comes down from the windshield and glares it big time. So whatever I do it's going to need to stick out or at least has a small lip to prevent sunlight from hitting it.

uwishu1
lol...I used to install this stuff for years and man I'd get mad at myself when I realized I forgot something simple like that and had to take it all apart again.
absolutsnwbrdr
I was just looking at getting the sportster 5... think there would be a way to mod the cubby door and put the sportster in the cubby door itself? that way you could still keep the cubby available, and have the sportster move with the door?
