VW working on new GTI variants

Recommended Posts

Cliffs note version:

GTD - 170 hp, 260 lb-ft 2.0L common rail diesel

GTI "Plus" - 270 hp + 7-spd DSG + AWD

R42 - 350 hp turbo five shared w/ TT-RS & RS3

Looks like WRX and STI will be getting some decent competitions.

They should just do away with the 3-door GTI and bring over the Scirocco. It's pretty much the same car but better looking.

Specs sound amazing. Now if only they could make a car that didn't look like a shoe...

All the best hot hatches in europe (Renault Megane, Cliosport, Twingo, Focus ST/RS Fiesta ST, GTi, Abarth 500, Cooper S/JCWetc...) all look like shoes.

I don't get what youre complaining about. I don't see how they can design a hot hatch that still has utilitarian trunk space without looking like a shoe.

Which is why i dont like hatchs lol

It's really too bad too many ppl in this country think like tthat, it keeps some of europes best offerings out of the US and instead we stuck stuck with ugly sedan versions of said hatch cars more often.

Well since im not a fan of wagons or hatchs that look like shoe boxes, them not coming here doesnt really bother me.

Diesels however, have a place in my heart

sorry, no picking and choosing, gotta accept it all together. diesel hatchbacks are an institution in europe.
