FSRBIKER
The Brinks and Australian OEM hitch are for the vehicle, the US just rates our cars at a lower tow rating. It really has nothing to do with going above our tow rating with the hitch(although extra strength is always nice), it has to do with design. You personally like the hitch hanging below the vehicle while most others that have posted are looking for just the opposite.
FSRBIKER
BTW Brinks e-mailed me back and they said they have only tested their towbars to European specs so they would not allow them to be imported directly into this country. You can obviously still get one, just have someone in Europe buy it and then ship it here if you really wanted one.
CJ1177
Right, so the Subaru hitch exatly matches the rating of the vehicle... Why go above that? IMO there is nothing wrong with having a strong & over ratted hitch at least you know it is safe & wont break, & IMHO that rating of 1500kg on the ozzi unit is under quoted as that is the same ratting that subaru give the car. & when you compare the two hitch's the ozzi one again looks far stronger Personally, I actually think the hitch under the car is less noticeable than the 2" receiver sticking 2" out of a hole in the bumper... I tend to agree I have seen a hitch that is a combination of your unit & the ozzi one, in that it mounts the same as the 2" unit but has a flat tongue that comes out flush with the bottom of the bar. So every thing is completely hidden except for a small tab that is left behind when you remove the tongue. But unfortunately I have no idea who makes it cause it is also my preferred hitch CJ
BAC5.2
Wow, that AUS spec hitch is AWESOME! That is exactly what I want. Has anyone in the US actually purchased and installed one? Mocny1
My hidden hitch sits a little lower, and when i accelerate hard with people in the back it rubs on the ground (sparks at night) but it has done the job perfectly. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/I_DONT_CARE_88/IMG_4538.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/I_DONT_CARE_88/IMG_4129.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/I_DONT_CARE_88/Melanie045.jpg
Drogos
Any updates on that Ausie hitch? Seems that tubular hidden hitch or oem is the best way to go if I don't want them to go below exhaust?
BAC5.2
I have a drawtite, and it seems to work well. I abandoned the Aussie hitch due to cost and lack of data. Crazy_Pilot
Does anyone know if the OEM hitch will clear the SPT mufflers? Need a way to move the R/C plane I'm building around, and it won't fit in the car by a long shot.

Crazy_Pilot
Plz go through this, i will surely help http://www.cars101.com/subaru/legacy/legacy2005.html :-) Searching that page shows towing capacities of 2600-2700 lbs and that a hitch is only available on an Outback. Not tremendously useful information when it comes to questions about tow hitches clearing performance exhaust systems. I've been over the Cars101 site before, several times. Good background, but it's basically just a list of specs, not answers to fitment questions.
